ABCs of applying for a marriage license at the Quezon City Hall
Reposting my email to the W@W egroup.
We applied for our marriage license last Monday. So if you're thinking of applying for license at the Quezon City Hall, the information below might help you.
Step 1. Go to Window 10 of the Civil Registrar's Office [located at the back of the main city hall building] to get the Order of Payment (P150), you have to present your community tax certificate [cedula] for both applying parties.
Step 2. Pay at the Treasurer's Office (2nd Floor, main city hall building) [TIP: if there are two of you applying, ask the other person to queue up at the Treasurer's Office while one is getting the order of payment -- dito lang kami kasi natagalan]
Step 3. After getting the official receipt, present it back at Window 10 to get the marriage license forms.
Step 4.Fill up the forms [2 copies, males the left column, females the right column]. Submit the forms back to Window 10 with one picture of each of you. Then the person will ask you to have it notarized. There is a notary public on the right side of the room. This is also the time to present your Discovery Weekend certificate or any other document that you have certifying that you have attended pre-marriage counseling. In our case, they accepted the certificate prepared by our Pastor after our counseling sessions.
If you don't have any certificate, they will ask you to attend the sessions given by the DOH [or is it the city health department?]. These sessions are scheduled from M-F 1-4PM [sorry, was not able to ask where the sessions are being held].
Step 5. Have the notarized forms photocopied as it will serve as your receiving copy.
Step 6. Present the notarized forms with the certificate back at Window 10. They will receive it, indicate the date on when you can pick it up. In our case, on June 2, after 10 working days. We were told that there will be a fee of P100 upon pick up of the license.
All in all, it took us one and a half hours to complete all the steps and the only thing that they asked from us were the cedulas.
